After leaving California for the Great Pacific Northwest, Sharon
Strong settled down in the sunny Yakima Valley of eastern Washington. Only
after retiring from the steel fabrication business, did Sharon realize her
artistic niche, and have time to devote her attention to it. She
comes from a family of artistic talent. Growing up in San Diego, she was
surrounded by art. Her mother was a renowned sculptor in southern California.
Her sister has produced great watercolors and other paintings. And her brother
is a designer of unique homes.
She has always enjoyed decorating with a unique, eclectic style,
combining textures, colors, and great shapes. She carries this love of art into
her work, which includes glass fusion, mixed-media, and watercolor painting.
Since starting her career in fused glass making jewelry, plates,
and vases, Sharon has now added an interesting variety of specialty glass
pieces.
With a gift for seeing colors in a way that many can't, Sharon
puts together handmade papers, dried leaves, grasses, flowers, and other
materials with acrylics on canvas to create intriguing paintings. And, of late, her heretofore hidden talent with watercolors has come to light!
Among her traits is a warm affection for people, and a true desire to create
enjoyable experiences with, and for those around her. This has led her into
fascinating collaborations with other artists. She has also
done custom pieces for individuals and organizations around the state.
Sharon is a member of
Allied Arts and
Larson Gallery
Guild, both of Yakima and Peninsula
Arts Association of Long Beach.
